A bit of money for dad (3)
I believe the answer is:
pay
'a bit of money' is the definition.
'pay' can be an answer for 'money' (I've seen this in other clues). I'm unsure of the 'a bit of' bit.
'dad' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'dad' could be 'pa' (both can mean one's father) and 'pa' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'y' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'for' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for pay that I've seen before include "Salary, wages" , "Remuneration" , "Be punished" , "Money for work" , "Give money in exchange for goods or services" .)
