Crossword Genius

Does she have a great day when the sun rises? (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

venus

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'does she' is the definition.
'Venus' can be an answer for 'she'. I am not certain of the 'does' bit.

'a great day when the sun rises?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
an anagram of 'sun' is 'nus' which is within the answer.
'a great day' could be 've' (abbreviation for Victory in Europe Day) and 've' is found within the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'have' acts as a link.

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
