Ross

I believe the answer is:

cued

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'reversed' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with communicating as well as being past participle verbs.
Maybe there's an association between them I don't understand?

'drove ball umpire's call abruptly' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'ball' could be 'cue' (cue ball is a kind of ball) and 'cue' is found within the answer.
A single letter 'd' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

'being' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for cued that I've seen before include "Prompted" , "Gave prompt to forgetful actor" , "given a line" , "Reminded" .)
