Dust devils? Large maybe, then small (6)
I believe the answer is:
eddies
'dust devils?' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'large maybe then small' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'small' could be 's' (abbreviation - e.g. clothes size) and 's' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'eddie' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for eddies that I've seen before include "opposed to current trends" , "Small water swirls" , "current affairs?" , "Swirls, whirlpools" , "round flowers" .)
