Elderly folk with urge to replace old kitchen gadgets (3,6)
I believe the answer is:
egg timers
'kitchen gadgets' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'elderly folk with urge to replace old' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'urge' could be 'egg' (as in egging someone on) and 'egg' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'timers' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for egg timers that I've seen before include "kitchen devices" , "Sand chronometers" .)
