Encourages a youngster at the Oval? (4,2)
I believe the answer is:
eggs on
'encourages' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'a youngster at the oval?' is the wordplay.
'a youngster' becomes 'son' (a child).
'at' means one lot of letters go next to another (I've seen this in other clues).
'the oval?' becomes 'egg' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should believe this answer much more).
'son' put after 'egg' is 'EGGS ON'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for eggs on that I've seen before include "Incites" , "Urges" .)
