Fuss about English skin product? (7)
I believe the answer is:
leather
'skin product?' is the definition.
'leather' can be an answer for 'skin' (I have seen 'Tanned skin' mean 'leather' so perhaps 'skin' could also mean 'leather'). I am not certain of the 'product?' bit.
'fuss about english' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'about' could be 'a' (abbreviation in Chambers) and 'a' is located in the answer.
'english' could be 'e' (abbreviation as in OED) and 'e' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for leather that I've seen before include "Fabric" , "calf" , "Flog; hide" , "polish" , "durable material" .)
