Given 1 or 2 types of mine? (6)
I believe the answer is:
pitied
'given 1' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are past participle verbs, I can't understand how one could define the other.
'2 types of mine?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'mine?' could be 'pit' (down the pit) and 'pit' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'or' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for pitied that I've seen before include "Commiserated" , "Tie dip (anag.)" , "Felt compassion toward" , "Felt sorry for, sympathised with" .)
