Highest point arrived with Charlie in second place (4)
I believe the answer is:
acme
'highest point' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'arrived with charlie in second place' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'charlie' could be 'c' (phonetic alphabet) and 'c' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ame' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for acme that I've seen before include "Point of maximum development" , "Zenith - optimum" , "Summit of achievement" , "Top or highest point" , "Came awkwardly to the highest point" .)
