Like the rent book? (4)
I believe the answer is:
torn
'rent book?' is the definition.
'torn' can be an answer for 'rent' (I've seen this in another clue). I'm unsure of the 'book?' bit.
I can't explain the remainder of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for torn that I've seen before include "Lacerated - in two minds" , "'-- Curtain', 1966 Hitchcock film" , "Rent, ripped" , "Ragged" , "In a state of uncertainty between two conflicting options" .)
