Little creature left snake shedding its skin (4)
I believe the answer is:
lamb
'little creature' is the definition.
'lamb' can be an answer for 'creature' (lamb is a kind of creature). I'm not certain of the 'little' bit.
'left snake shedding its skin' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'left' could be 'l' (common abbreviation) and 'l' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'amb' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for lamb that I've seen before include "essayists?" , "English essayist" , "Noted essayist - symbol of innocence" , "author?" , "A follower" .)
