I believe the answer is:

pay

'money' is the definition.
(I've seen this in other clues)

'dad gets on the fourth of july' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'dad' could be 'pa' (both can mean one's father) and 'pa' is present in the answer.
'fourth of july' could be 'y' (4th letter of 'july') and 'y' is located in the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for pay that I've seen before include "Settle up" , "Screw" , "Hand over money for" , "profitable" , "Remunerate" .)
