Ruin unearthed entirely by Spooner (8)
I believe the answer is:
downfall
'ruin' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'unearthed entirely by spooner' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'entirely' could be 'all' (all can mean entirely or completely) and 'all' is located in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for downfall that I've seen before include "burst of rain" , "Collapse, ruin" , "Failure (after successful career?)" , "Loss of power or prosperity, a serious tumble" , "Cloudburst" .)
