Working at being deceptive, on the quiet? (6)
I believe the answer is:
plying
'working at' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'deceptive on the quiet?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'quiet?' could be 'p' (music symbol for 'piano', ie soft or quiet) and 'p' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'lying' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'being' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for plying that I've seen before include "Travelling a route regularly" , "carrying on" .)
