uptrend

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'improvement' is the definition.
(thesaurus)

'wrong turn oddly heralds finish of economic' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'turn' could be 'trend' (trending is a kind of turning) and 'trend' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'up' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for uptrend that I've seen before include "showing some improvement?" , "encouraging economic situation" , "Tendency to rise" , "Rising tendency" .)
