A centre on the other side (6)
I believe the answer is:
across
'on the other side' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'a centre' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'a' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'cross' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for across that I've seen before include "Clues like this" , "Clue with solution not going in the direction of this one!" , "what follows one here" , "From side to side of (something)" , "Horizontally" .)
