A dash back to bury one’s bones (5)

I believe the answer is:
tibia
'bones' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how one could define the other.
'a dash back to bury one's' is the wordplay.
'dash' becomes 'bit' (both can mean a small amount).
'back' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'to bury' means one lot of letters goes inside another (inserted letters are buried inside).
'one' becomes 'i' (Roman numeral).
'a'+'bit'='abit'
'abit' reversed gives 'tiba'.
'tiba' going around 'i' is 'TIBIA'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for tibia that I've seen before include "part of skeleton" , "ancient pipe" , "Bone of the lower leg" , "Shin bone" , "Bone in osso bucco" .)
