A hole made by the boxer (6)
I believe the answer is:
crater
'a hole' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'by the boxer' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'by' could be 'at' and 'at' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'made' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for crater that I've seen before include "Volcano opening" , "Caldera" , "Capital of Virginia" , "Great hole as on top of volcano" , "Hole (on the moon?)" .)
