A household word in France (6)
I believe the answer is:
menage
'a household' is the definition.
('menage' can be a synonym of 'household')
'word in france' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'in france' could be 'en' ('in' in French) and 'en' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'mage' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for menage that I've seen before include "Members of a household" , "live together" , "family group" , "Social unit living together" , "a household, may be naughtily a trois" .)
