Crossword Genius

A little house outside Margate (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

home

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This could be a double definition.

'a little house outside' is the first definition.
'home' can be an answer for 'outside' (thesaurus). I'm not sure about the 'a little house' bit.

'margate' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot understand how they can define each other.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for home that I've seen before include "Place of origin" , "It's where the heart is, they say" , "goal" , "Last line of defence in World War II" , "and 23: Host side" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
