Crossword Genius

A persuasive talker (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

money

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'talker' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how one could define the other.

'a persuasive' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'a' could be 'one' and 'one' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'my' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for money that I've seen before include "Euro for example" , "See 7" , "Mazuma, ackers or dosh" , "Bread" , "Legal tender" .)
