A pub or restaurant, by the way (9)
I believe the answer is:
roadhouse
'a pub' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'restaurant by the way' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'way' could be 'road' (road is a kind of way) and 'road' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'house' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'or' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for roadhouse that I've seen before include "accommodation" , "Country inn" , "place of refreshment" , "pub, by the way" .)
