Abide with hollow surrounds (5)
I believe the answer is:
dwell
'abide' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'with hollow surrounds' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'with' could be 'w' (short for with) and 'w' is located in the answer.
'hollow' could be 'dell' (dell is a kind of hollow) and 'dell' is located in the remaining letters.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for dwell that I've seen before include "Remain" , "Harp" , "Focus attention (on)" , "stay" , "Live (in a place)" .)
