Ability to see through something wicked? (11)
I believe the answer is:
candlelight
'ability' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how they can define each other.
'through something wicked?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'something wicked?' could be 'candle' (I've seen this before) and 'candle' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'light' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'to see' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for candlelight that I've seen before include "Romantic glow" , "Dim illumination from tapers, etc" , "Early illumination" .)
