Accosted in Perth and ridiculed daily (7)
I believe the answer is:
waylaid
'accosted in perth' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are past participle verbs, I can't see how they can define each other.
'ridiculed daily' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'daily' is 'ylaid' which is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'wa' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'and' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for waylaid that I've seen before include "Aggressively intercepted" , "Ambushed" .)
