Added information an organist might provide (8)
I believe the answer is:
footnote
'provide' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their base form, I cannot see how one could define the other.
'added information an organist' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'information' could be 'note' (note is a kind of information) and 'note' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'foot' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'might' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for footnote that I've seen before include "Explanation at bottom of page" , "addition to manuscript" , "Comment at bottom of page" , "Too often (anag.)" , "It's not very important" .)
