Address: perhaps Mick Jagger dropped round (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

hailstone

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'address' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how they can define each other.

'mick jagger dropped round' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'jagger' could be 'stone' (Mick Jagger is one of the Rolling Stones) and 'stone' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'hail' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'perhaps' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for hailstone that I've seen before include "drop of ice" , "Frozen raindrop" , "Falling ice" , "bit icy" , "bit of a storm" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
