I believe the answer is:
arar
'african tree' is the definition.
'arar' can be an answer for 'tree' (I've seen this before). I'm not certain of the 'african' bit.
I cannot understand how the remainder of the clue works.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Another definition for arar that I've seen is " Moroccan tree".)
