'Age before beauty', says V? (5,3)
I believe the answer is:
after you
'age before beauty' is the definition.
(both are said to allow someone to go before you)
I don't understand how the rest of the clue works.
(Other definitions for after you that I've seen before include "Yielding statement" , "I'll follow" .)
I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
