All out to get more pay? (7,6)
I believe the answer is:
general strike
'all out' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'get more pay?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'get' could be 'strike' (striking is a kind of getting) and 'strike' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'general' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'to' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for general strike that I've seen before include "National work stoppage" , "When everyone's out" , "Everybody out!" , "nationwide walkout" , "Everything stops for it" .)
