All the letters from two Greek characters one abridged (8)
I believe the answer is:
alphabet
'all the letters' is the definition.
'two greek characters one abridged' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'greek' could be 'alpha' (I have seen 'A Greek' mean 'alpha' so perhaps 'greek' could also mean 'alpha') and 'alpha' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'bet' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).
'from' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for alphabet that I've seen before include "All the characters together" , "A language's set of letters" , "ABC" , "Fundamental language components" , "A set of language letters" .)
