Almost overlook model given wrong part (7)
I believe the answer is:
miscast
'wrong part' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their base form, I don't understand how they can define each other.
'almost overlook model given' is the wordplay.
'almost' means to remove the last letter (almost the whole word is kept).
'overlook' becomes 'miss' (synonyms).
'model given' becomes 'cast' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'miss' with its final letter taken off is 'mis'.
'mis'+'cast'='MISCAST'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for miscast that I've seen before include "Given an unsuitable part" , "Given an unsuitable role" , "Of actor, unsuited to a role" , "Of actor, assigned to unsuitable role" , "having the wrong part" .)
