An amusing host? (11)
I believe the answer is:
entertainer
'an amusing host?' is the definition.
'entertainer' can be an answer for 'host?' (host is a kind of entertainer). I'm unsure of the 'an amusing' bit.
'host?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'host?' could be 'entertain' (entertain can mean to host guests) and 'entertain' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'er' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for entertainer that I've seen before include "One providing hospitality" , "comic perhaps" , "Eg, singer or comedian" , "Arturo -, nineteeth to twentieth century Italian conductor" , "Eg, singer or comic" .)
