An article or just a snippet in the news section (4)
I believe the answer is:
item
'section' is the definition.
(I have seen 'section of magazine' mean 'item' so perhaps 'section' could also mean 'item')
'an article or just a snippet in the news' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'an' could be 'i' (Roman numeral for one) and 'i' is located in the answer.
'the' could be 't' (the is pronounced as a 't' sound in some dialects) and 't' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'em' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for item that I've seen before include "couple making out {TIME}..." , "Separate article" , "Article, object" , "One article" , "Individual article or unit" .)
