I believe the answer is:

flight of fancy

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'an imaginative air' is the definition.
I know nothing about this answer so I cannot judge whether it can be defined by this definition.

'trip?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'trip?' could be 'flight' (flight is a kind of trip) and 'flight' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for flight of fancy that I've seen before include "An instance of free indulgence in imagination" , "Example of free use of the imagination" , "Imaginative excursion" , "Far-fetched speculation" , "Dream" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Independent.
