An indication that one has to ratify a contract? (4)

I believe the answer is:
sign
This could be a double definition.
'an indication that one' is the first definition.
'sign' can be an answer for 'an indication' (I've seen this in another clue). I'm not certain of the rest of the definition.
'ratify a contract?' is the second definition.
(as in signing a contract)
'has to' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for sign that I've seen before include "Public notice; portent" , "Public notice; Leo, say" , "Traffic control - to write one's name" , "Omen or indication" , "Endorse" .)
