An offence in one sport or another (8)
I believe the answer is:
handball
'an offence' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both acts as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe you can see an association between them that I don't see?
'one sport or another' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'one' could be 'an' (an apple is one apple) and 'an' is located in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'in' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for handball that I've seen before include "kind of foul" , "Game played in a walled court" , "Offence from soccer" .)
