Crossword Genius

Apathy shown by a Continental business (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

unconcern

'apathy' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'by a continental business' is the wordplay.
'by' says to put letters next to each other.
'a continental' becomes 'un' (the word 'a' as said on the European continent).
'business' becomes 'concern' (eg 'none of your concern', 'none of your business').
'un'+'concern' is 'UNCONCERN'.

'shown' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for unconcern that I've seen before include "Calm" , "Apathy" , "Lack of interest" , "Indifference" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
