Appropriate session with one's tailor? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

fitting

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'appropriate' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'session with one's tailor?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'tailor?' could be 'fit' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'fit' is found in the answer.
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for fitting that I've seen before include "Apt" , "Seemly" , "Appropriate, proper" , "Suitable, proper" , "reason for appointment with tailor" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish News.
