Arch away from cold light on the road (6)
I believe the answer is:
camber
'arch away' is the definition.
'camber' can be an answer for 'arch' (cambering is a kind of arching). I am not sure about the 'away' bit.
'cold light on the road' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'cold' could be 'c' (eg on taps) and 'c' is present in the answer.
'light' could be 'amber' (I've seen this before) and 'amber' is present in the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'from' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for camber that I've seen before include "Slight tilt" , "Slope on road surface" , "Road surface curvature" , "Convex shape of road surface" , "Curve given to surface as of road" .)
