Architectural style from state on Atlantic (8)
I believe the answer is:
georgian
'architectural style' is the definition.
'georgian' can be an answer for 'style' (I have seen 'style of architecture' mean 'georgian' so perhaps 'style' could also mean 'georgian'). I am unsure of the 'architectural' bit.
'state on atlantic' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'state' could be 'georgia' (Georgia is an example) and 'georgia' is found within the answer.
A single letter 'n' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'from' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for georgian that I've seen before include "Characteristic of the time of the first four Hanoverian kings" , "18th-century style of architecture" , "Early 19th-century style" , "Former Soviet" , "Of period seventeen hundred and fourteen to eighteen hundred and thirty" .)
