"Arrest that woman," said man attacked in Senate (6)
I believe the answer is:
caesar
'man attacked in senate' is the definition.
'caesar' can be an answer for 'man' (I have seen 'Top man' mean 'caesar' so perhaps 'man' could also mean 'caesar'). I'm not certain of the 'attacked in senate' bit.
I don't understand how the remainder of the clue works.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for caesar that I've seen before include "extraction operation" , "Emperor of ancient Rome, like Julius" , "Old Roman leader" , "leader who acts like a dictator" , "See 13 Across" .)
