I believe the answer is:

sculptor

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'artist's' is the definition.
(sculptor is a kind of artist)

'model put closer eyesight's beginning to go' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'model' could be 'sculpt' (I've seen this before) and 'sculpt' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'or' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for sculptor that I've seen before include "Artist - southern constellation" , "Stone carver" , "Artist who carves" , "Rodin or Rowan Gillespie, say" , "A carver of statues" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
