Crossword Genius

At the end of term, trade abuse (4-7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

name-calling

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'abuse' is the definition.
(I have seen 'Verbal abuse ' mean 'name-calling' so perhaps 'abuse' could also mean 'name-calling')

'at the end of term trade' is the wordplay.
'at' says to put letters next to each other.
'the end of term' becomes 'name' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'trade' becomes 'calling' (both can mean someone's job or vocation).
'name' put next to 'calling' is 'NAME-CALLING'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for name-calling that I've seen is " Verbal abuse".)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
