Awkward position where sides meet in remote area (6)
I believe the answer is:
corner
'awkward position' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'sides meet in remote area' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'area' could be 'ne' and 'ne' is located in the answer.
'sides' could be 'rr' (an abbreviation for right written twice) and 'rr' is found in the remaining letters.
The remaining letters 'co' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'where' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for corner that I've seen before include "awkward situation" , "Difficult position; angle" , "Where rook starts on the chess board" , "Angle formed by two meeting walls" , "Awkward position" .)
