Babbles about food? (7)
I believe the answer is:
waffles
'babbles' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with communicating as well as being verbs in their -s form.
Maybe you can see a link between them that I can't see?
'about food?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'about' could be 'a' (abbreviation in Chambers) and 'a' is found in the answer.
'food?' could be 'e' (E is an example) and 'e' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for waffles that I've seen before include "Talks imprecisely" , "Cakes" , "doesn't avoid 27 [VERBIAGE]" , "Talks vaguely" .)
