Crossword Genius

Bags. Drag with, for example, silver returns (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

luggage

'bags' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'drag with for example silver returns' is the wordplay.
'drag' becomes 'lug' (I've seen this in another clue).
'with' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'for example' becomes 'eg' (short for 'exempli gratia', 'for example' in Latin).
'silver' becomes 'Ag' (Ag is the chemical symbol for silver).
'returns' says the letters should be written backwards.
'eg'+'ag'='egag'
'egag' reversed gives 'gage'.
'lug'+'gage'='LUGGAGE'

(Other definitions for luggage that I've seen before include "Travelling cases" , "Bags and baggage" , "(Traveller's) suitcases" , "Travelling bags etc." , "Belongings" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
