Barely paid spots out, retiring in Eden? (6)
I believe the answer is:
utopia
'eden?' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'barely paid spots out retiring' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'out' is 'uto' which is within the answer.
The remaining letters 'pia' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'in' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for utopia that I've seen before include "Sir Thomas More's ideal society" , "Ideal country" , "Literally nowhere" , "More's imaginary state" , "Perfect, yet impracticable, state" .)
