Be in the military, switching initial directions to show bravery (5)
I believe the answer is:
nerve
'bravery' is the definition.
(I know that nerve is a type of bravery)
'be in the military switching initial directions' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'directions' could be 'ne' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'ne' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'to show' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for nerve that I've seen before include "Sauce" , "Strand of body tissue" , "Valour, pluck" , "Temerity" , "Courage, coolness in danger" .)
