I believe the answer is:

strand

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'beach' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'bear crossing river' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'river' could be 'r' (abbreviation for river) and 'r' is found within the answer.
'bear' could be 'stand' (synonyms) and 'stand' is present in the remaining letters.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'finds' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for strand that I've seen before include "Beach or single hair" , "Maroon; beach" , "A thread or a beach" , "Beach - desert" , "Thread; leave in lurch" .)

I've seen this clue in The Sun.
